| | | This report documents our progress as a corporate citizen and is a summary of the full 2008 Corporate Citizenship Report (PDF), which is available to download as a PDF. The full report was produced using the reporting guidelines and indicators of the American Petroleum Institute (API) and the International Petroleum Industry Environmental Conservation Association (IPIECA) Oil and Gas Industry Guidance on Voluntary Sustainability Reporting (April 2005). Most of this report focuses on activities in 2008. Where notable, we have added events from early 2009. Performance data is provided on all aspects of Imperial’s business that is both owned and operated. We do not include data on operations that are operated by others such as Syncrude. Dollar figures are in Canadian dollars, except where noted.

| Cover photo Imperial is a strong supporter of education initiatives such as Junior Achievement of Canada. The program provides classroom and after-school instruction that focuses on business basics and the importance of staying in school. In 2006, we contributed $1 million over five years to fund Junior Achievement activities. Many of our employees also volunteer as Junior Achievement teachers. Shown here are Imperial employees/Junior Achievement teachers Gary Bagga (second from left) and Oanh Vo (far right) with Calgary students Jane Yang and Ben Prance.
