Esso farm customers raise more than $475,000 to benefit their communities

| The Esso Farm Community Growth Fund is bringing holiday cheer to various communities across Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba a little early this year with over $475,000 benefiting sports facilities, children’s playgrounds and vital health and fire response services.
Esso farm customers helped raise these funds through a new community-driven initiative led by local Esso Associates. From May to November this year, each time customers purchased a litre of fuel or a tonne of fertilizer from their local Esso Associate, Esso donated up to a penny towards their local fund program. Each Esso associate had a potential to raise up to $25,000 through this initiative for his or her projects. Today, 90 per cent of the projects have met their targets.
"There are many quiet heroes in these rural farming communities who leave their mark - through their dedication in business and in serving the community. Our hat’s off to the local Esso associates who really championed this project," says Fred Gowland, Industrial Wholesale Offer Manager, Esso. "Everyone who participated in this initiative can feel proud of the positive and lasting impact they’ve made in their communities."
Cheques from the Esso Farm Community Growth Fund will be presented to most of the non-profit organizations and charities in early December, 2004 and the remainder in January 2005. Click here for a list of organizations directly benefitted by the Esso Farm Community Growth Fund.
Esso has been fuelling farm businesses in Canada for over 100 years and is committed to supporting programs in the communities it serves. In 2003, Esso, through the Imperial Oil Foundation, contributed almost $6.1 million in support to over 400 non-profit organizations in Canada.
