Giving back to the community
Imperial is one of Canada's largest corporate contributors, building from a tradition of corporate giving that began in 1894, when the company made its first donation to a Newfoundland seaman's mission.
Imperial Oil is committed to being a valued member of the Canadian community. Through the Imperial Oil Foundation, we support programs targeted in the areas of math and science, environmental education and conservation projects, as well as community initiatives where we have a significant employee population or a large business presence.
In 2006, the Imperial Oil Foundation contributed $6 million to more than 400 charitable organizations across Canada.
The Foundation also has a Volunteer Involvement Program (VIP) designed specifically to promote community involvement and volunteerism of our employees, their spouses, and the company annuitants. In the past seven years this program has awarded over $1.4 million to community organizations across Canada.
